Land cover classifications has been used for the non-impacted (wilderness) areas in the map graphics.

Scenario modeling

Modelling of the future development of human impact and infrastructure for this region is under way, using the GLOBIO methodology.

A pilot study was done for the greater Amazonian region in the fall of 2000.
